Aluminum Brazing
Benefits of Aluminum Vacuum Brazing
Performed in a high vacuum without the need of corrosive flux essential for the "dip braze" process, dramatic improvements are realized.
Improved thermal conductivity
More efficient thermal design is possible due to the elimination of dip brazing, such as flux entrapment in high density fins and semi-closed cavities.
Weight savings
Three times improvement in tensile straight over dip brazed parts as measured in independent tests. Over 90% of the ultimate tensile strength of 606int6 aluminum alloy is achieved (over 40,000 psi).
Stronger Leak-free joints
The improved joint bond and absence of entrapped flux "pockets" results in increased proof and burst pressure capabilities.
Greater design freedom
With CGR's process, unlimited caging areas can be part of the design...impossible with dip brazing due to the unavoidable inclusion of salt flux.
Freedom from contamination
Part are chemically clean, with no oxide or flux residue upon removal from CGR's fluxless aluminum vacuum furnace. No post braze cleaning (ole-salting) required. Also, machining after brazing can be accomplished without causing salt bleed out, even through the braze joint.
